How many scholarships are awarded?

Typically, up to three scholarships of $500 each are awarded each year, but the WUHS Booster Club determines the number of recipients on an annual basis.

Who administers the scholarship?

The scholarship is coordinated through the Student Services office at Waterford High School. The WUHS Booster Club’s Scholarship Committee evaluates applications and selects the recipients.

Who is eligible to apply for the scholarship?

To be eligible, a student must:

Can I use AI tools to help with my application?

Applicants may use AI tools to check grammar and clarity, but responses should reflect the applicant’s unique voice. Fully AI-generated essays are not allowed.

Who selects the scholarship recipients?

Applications are evaluated by a committee of community members and WUHS Booster Club Board Members who have no personal relationship with the applicants.

What criteria are used to evaluate applications?

Selections are based on the completeness of the application, demonstrated sportsmanship and leadership, community involvement, and responses to the essay questions.

When will scholarship winners be announced?

Scholarship recipients are notified privately by the Student Services office prior to the Department Awards and Senior Scholarship Night event. However, students are not told which specific scholarship they have won until the ceremony.

How and when is the scholarship awarded?

Recipients will receive a check for $500 after providing proof of enrollment in an accredited program to the Student Services office.

Who will the scholarship check be made out to?

The check will be written directly to the student. The Student Services office will hold the check until proof of enrollment is provided.

What if I don’t claim my scholarship by the deadline?

The deadline to claim the scholarship is June 30th. If the recipient does not provide proof of enrollment by this date, the Scholarship Committee will determine next steps, which may include awarding the funds to an alternate.
